This is a much safer and better designed mandolin. Having clipped off the tip of my right middle finger using a restaurant scale stainless mandolin, I appreciate how much safer this design is. Looking forward to using it regularly. Only concern is that it is a bit small and limits its ability to slice a large quantity.

I purchased this so that my 12 year old granddaughter and I could make scalloped potatoes together without me worrying about her fingers. This contraption works well for that! It is easy to fold up and put away too. Cleaning is pretty easy but I don’t let anyone else near the blade. The blade is as sharp as it should be and care must be taken when cleaning it (just like any other blade). Would I buy it again? Yes. I think it is a good value.

No more using a knife and avoiding all accidents that they cause, when used haphazardly. Particles do cling to the unit so using the little brush is helpful and when pushing the little plunger, it does require a little strength but not so much that an 86-year-old woman can’t accomplish.
